About Dominic Trott, M.A., MBA

Founder, Trott Mediation Services

Dominic Trott is a professional mediator based in Southern California, known for his calm, analytical approach and commitment to resolving complex disputes with clarity and professionalism.

With a background spanning psychology, law, business, and real estate, Dominic brings a rare combination of insight and structure to every mediation. His experience allows him to guide parties through conflict efficiently and effectively—helping them move beyond impasse toward resolution with confidence and respect.

Dominic’s mediation style is adaptable. He begins with a facilitative approach to promote understanding and open communication, then integrates evaluative methods when parties need clarity about their positions and options. This balance creates a process that is both constructive and results-oriented.

He is recognized for his steady demeanor, balanced perspective, and ability to defuse tension in even the most challenging matters. Attorneys and clients alike appreciate his professionalism, attentiveness, and focus on achieving meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Dominic’s perspective is shaped by a diverse personal and professional background. Raised in a home that blended Jamaican and Japanese American cultures, he grew up attuned to very different viewpoints under one roof. Combined with his broad education and experience across law, business, and real estate, this enables him to see disputes from multiple angles and craft solutions that go beyond what a courtroom alone can offer. He was drawn to mediation by a desire to help people move past conflict and get back to normal life, and he believes our purpose in life is not to remain stuck in unresolved conflicts.

Mediation Approach

I believe mediation is a fluid process, and a skilled mediator must adapt to the needs of the parties and the dynamics of the dispute. My preferred style begins with a facilitative approach, helping participants better understand differing perspectives and interests. From there, I incorporate an evaluative model to provide a clearer picture of potential outcomes so that parties can make informed decisions.

I am often described as calm, professional, and deeply committed to the mediation process. My goal is always to help parties resolve conflicts quickly, respectfully, and creatively.
